چکیده

The vortex force map (VFM) method is a promising low-cost technique for predicting unsteady aerodynamic load from the vorticity field. Developed under potential flow assumption and applied to high-resolution computational fluid dynamics (CFD) data, original VFM needs be further explored viscous flows, especially at low Reynolds numbers with incomplete knowledge of data. In this paper, extended general both forces contributed in flowfield on body surface considered. We find that viscosity contributes not only skin-friction but also pressure term. show maps problems without lead vanishing contributions far-field. CFD flowfields starting cylinder NACA0012 airfoil, it used analyze contribution effect given vortex. Moreover, acceptable accuracy truncated domains coarse sampling typical particle image velocimetry measurement size demonstrated.

Generalized fundamental solutions for unsteady viscous flows.

A number of closed-form fundamental solutions for generalized unsteady Oseen and Stokes flows associated with arbitrary time-dependent translational and rotational motions have been developed. These solutions are decomposed into two parts corresponding to a longitudinal wave and a transversal wave. As examples of application, the hydrodynamic forces acting on a sphere and on a circular cylinder...

Unsteady Viscous Flows and Stokes’s First Problem

Unsteady viscous flows and Stokes’s first problem are examined. Three problems are considered: unsteady Couette flow, unsteady Poiseuille flow, and unsteady boundary layer flow. The relationship between these three fundamental unsteady flows and Stokes’ first problem is illustrated. Scaling principles are used to deduce the short time and long time characteristics of these three problems. Asymp...

The Ghost Fluid Method for Viscous Flows

Abstract: The level set method for compressible flows [13] is simple to implement, especially in the presence of topological changes. However, this method was shown to suffer from large spurious oscillations in [11]. In [4], a new Ghost Fluid Method (GFM) was shown to remove these spurious oscillations by minimizing the numerical smearing in the entropy field with the help of an Isobaric Fix [6...

Viscous perturbations of vorticity-conserving flows and separatrix splitting

We examine the effect of the breaking of vorticity conservation by viscous dissipation on transport in the underlying fluid flow. The transport of interest is between regimes of different characteristic motion and is afforded by the splitting of separatrices. A base flow that is vorticity conserving is therefore assumed to have a separatrix that is either a homoclinic or heteroclinic orbit. The...

Visualization of Numerical Unsteady Fluid Flows

Instantaneous streamlines are commonly used to visualize particle paths in steady flows. It is shown, however, that streaklines are often more appropriate for unsteady flows. The typical size of unsteady flow simulations makes interactive visualization difficult if not impossible. Two common approaches for visualizing unsteady flows are described. The advantages and disadvantages of each are di...
